Facilities engineering

The design of a facility in which a pharmaceutical, biotech or fine chemical process is located is inevitably very closely linked to, and dependent on, that process.

At GRC Mott MacDonald we have a significant track record of designing both the processes and the facility as an integrated unit. This clearly avoids the pitfalls of poor co-ordination which can occur when clients place the two with different designers.

In the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries the facility can be as important as the process, for if it is not properly designed, constructed and validated, the process will not be allowed to proceed.

GRC Mott MacDonald has designed and specified the following types of facilities:

  • clean room suites
  • containment suites
  • low humidity suites
  • laboratories (analytical and research)
  • pilot plants
  • production plants
  • filling and packaging halls
  • warehouses
